History

The first description of phenylalanine was made in 1879, when Schulze and Barbieri identified a compound with theempirical formula, C₉H₁₁NO₂, in yellow lupine (Lupinus luteus) seedlings. In 1882, Erlenmeyer and Lipp first synthesized phenylalanine from phenylacetaldehyde, hydrogen cyanide, and ammonia.

Histoire

La première apparition de l'aspartame date de la publication de sa synthèse en 1966. Mais il aurait été découvert en 1965 par James Schlatter, chimiste de la société G. D. Searle & Company, lors de la synthèse d'un tétrapeptidedevant être testé comme médicament anti-ulcères.
